Piedmont and the Monferrato region
The typical house in demand with purchasers in the Monferrato or Langhe regions would be a family house or a farmhouse with some tracts of land. These houses are ideal and offer perfect accommodation for families and tourists. Many people move from big cities to buy a house in the Monferrato or in the Langhe of Asti to use it as a second house or even to start an agritourism or B&B business. It is the best way to get to know the culture of the region, enjoy its beautiful hilly landscape together with its excellent food and wine.
With budget airlines, well serviced local airports, Internet, more and more people work remotely in the house and area of their choice. If one compares Piedmont to Tuscany, two regions with so much in common, one wonders how long Piedmont will remain such good value before prices rise very quickly.
We offer you a country house on sale situated near the town of Castelnuovo Calcea (Asti).

Piedmont (Piemonte) is the second largest province of Italy, with a very diverse climate range. the North of the province is dominated by the highest mountains of Europe and has a continental climate. Spring and autumn are pleasant and mild, the winters are cold but short and crisp, the barrier of the Alps actually protects the region from the typical climate of central and northern Europe.
The Monferrato is situated between the Alps and the Riviera, the Langhe district and the Liguria region, in the middle of that wonderful twenty kilometre-wide stretch that runs from Cuneo to Acqui Terme. It is the most attractive part of Piedmont , with its softly rolling hills covered in vines and woodland.
The Langhe is a hilly area to the south and west of the river Tanaro, located between the districts of Asti and Cuneo. The medieval town of Alba (the capital of the Langhe) lies 25 Km to the south-west of Asti.
Piedmont is famous for its wines, cheeses, and truffles -particularly the white truffles of Alba. Its cuisine is renowned: very few areas in the world have such a wonderful choice of all culinary delicacies to accompany its excellent wines, of which Barbera, Freisa and Grignolino are the most traditional. The little-known towns of Nizza Monferrato, Canelli and Santo Stefano Belbo are the home of Gancia, Riccadonna, Martini and Cinzano, all well known Italian wine-making companies.
